me and my sisters posing with an easter bunny at the zoo

web VR project using photogrammetry objects and AI generated photos, 2022

The work is based on the fact that my family used to own a computer that served as an archive for our family photographs and videos for a long time. One day, this computer broke down resulting in the loss of the family archive. Assuming that such testemonies are part of what makes up our memories of the past, with the lost photos and videos, the memories have also been lost. In this work, I speculate about the environment in wich these memories have ended up. It consists of photographs and 3D objects in web VR experience. The photographs are generated using artificial intelligence, presenting it with fake, imagined memories and events that could have been stored in the broken computer. The title of the work is one of the photo captions and refers on the way in wich I communicated with the artificial intelligence – not by giving it specific, visual details, but by imagining that I am telling it a story, a memory. Thus, the work not only reflects on the concept of human memory, but also on how much we rely on technology as our memory storages in our daily lives, while simultenously polluting our minds (the natural memory storage) with a lot of unnecessary information from social media and other online platforms.
